Medical Scientist (Ref.: H01/2026/071) for clinical development projects.
Job Description
- Design, conduct, and oversee laboratory experiments and clinical studies to investigate the causes, progression, and treatment of human diseases, disorders, and health conditions
- Collect, analyze, and interpret complex biological, chemical, and clinical data using statistical methods, bioinformatics tools, and specialized software to draw meaningful conclusions
- Participate in the discovery, development, and testing of new pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostic tools, or therapeutic interventions
- Assist in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of clinical trials, ensuring adherence to protocols, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EMA, ICH-GCP)
- Perform or supervise the processing and analysis of biological specimens (blood, tissue, fluids) using techniques such as cell culture, PCR, microscopy, flow cytometry, sequencing, and immunoassays
- Work closely with physicians, clinicians, biostatisticians, regulatory affairs teams, and cross-functional research groups to translate findings into actionable medical insights
- Prepare detailed technical reports, research papers, grant proposals, and presentations for scientific journals, conferences, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure all research activities comply with institutional, ethical (IRB), biosafety, and regulatory guidelines; maintain accurate documentation and laboratory records
- Work with junior scientists, research associates, and laboratory technicians; maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
- Collaborating with technology inventors and clinical trial organizations to apply new inventions in clinical settings
- Initiating and executing investigator-initiated trials and sponsored trials to study, validate and improve novel products and services for clinical use
- Translating research outcomes into marketable applications and business opportunities
- Delivering high-quality presentations to collaborators and partners
- Handling other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor(s)
Requirements
- MD / PhD / MBChB in Medicine and Surgery, Chemical Pathology, Medical Science, Clinical Medicine, Public Health, Biostatistics, or related medical disciplines
- 10+ years of solid work experience in Hospital Authority setting
- Hands-on skills on molecular diagnostics, cfDNA and translational assay development
- Track record of leadership and project management in IVD R&D, including NGS and biomarker validation
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration with bioinformatics and clinical teams is a definite advantage
- Mature, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure
- Highly proficient and fluent in English in both writing and verbal communications
