Duties
We are looking for a high calibre professional to join our Substation Design Section of Plant Branch of Transmission Department. Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the appointee will be responsible for the following duties:
- Execute transmission project design work, master project requirements, and control project activities, including material and resource utilization, to meet demanding project schedules
- Prepare budgets and engineering deliverables (e.g. substation layout, civil requirement, electrical scheme, equipment design and modification, plant procurement plan, etc.) for transmission projects in accordance with statutory, safety, technical, cost, quality and customer requirements
- Manage key project stakeholders during the course of project design and implementation
- Coordinate with key stakeholders in the exploration, development and implementation of applicable innovations and new technologies during the project cycle
- Assist in preparing technical specifications for plant procurement and provision of installation / commissioning services. Evaluate and select competent suppliers and service providers meeting the technical specifications and relevant engineering standards. Devise and implement systems to manage the performance of contractors
- Assist in the establishment and administration of materials and service contracts
- Liaise with suppliers / contractors on the design review, engineering, production, factory testing and delivery of electrical plant equipment, and support administration of equipment and service contracts
- Attend factory visits to ensure the plant equipment ordered is produced in accordance with the approved design and tested in accordance with relevant international standards and / or the testing criteria approved by CLP Power
- Perform other duties as and when instructed by supervisor
Requirements
- A recognized university degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- At least 3 years’ relevant experience in engineering or managing transmission projects
- Familiarity with CLP Power Safety Rules, engineering standards and codes of practice is preferable
- Good safety awareness and mindset
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadline
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in in both written and spoken English and Chinese; fluency in Putonghua would be an advantage
- Customer-oriented, self-motivated, and a team player
- A valid Driving License class 1/1a, 2/2a would be an advantage
Candidate with less professional qualification and/or experience but demonstrates good potential for further development will be considered for a position at lower grade.
