Lead Developer, Integration Platform

Would you be interested in taking responsibility for a key development mission that centralizes Veikkaus’ technical integrations across the organization?

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Lead Developer to take ownership of a strategically important initiative: building a centralized integration platform that brings Veikkaus’ integrations under one unified solution. Veikkaus currently has hundreds of integrations, and the goal is to move towards a more centralized and scalable approach. This new integration platform will provide development teams with a modern, standardized, and managed way to build and operate integrations.

In this role, you’ll act as a technical Lead Developer, working hands-on while leading a skilled team of around five developers using agile methods. You’ll identify, prioritize, and drive business-driven development needs – from early concepts all the way to implementation. You will have a strong influence on architecture, technology choices, and overall direction, working in close collaboration with architects. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys building new solutions from the ground up, is comfortable working in an evolving environment, and can combine hands-on development with technical leadership.

You will thrive in this position, if you have

• Proven experience leading the development of large-scale software systems or integration platforms, with ownership of architecture, performance, and security
• Strong technical background with hands-on software development experience and solid understanding of modern technologies and development practices. The technology stack for the product is still evolving.
• Experience working with integration platforms, high-availability systems, and integration patterns (incl. event-driven architectures)
• Experience with modern cloud environments (GCP/AWS), containerization, CI/CD, and scalable architectures
• Solid experience with API-first design, streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka, Pub/Sub), and enterprise integration patterns (e.g. ESB, Apache Camel)
• Ability to translate high-level concepts into clear technical solutions and guide development teams through planning and execution
• Proven leadership skills: mentoring, inspiring, and driving development teams
• Experience in defining standards, best practices, and reusable patterns across teams
• Strong prioritization skills and a goal-oriented mindset
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with complex stakeholder environments
• Fluent English (spoken and written)

The position is located at Veikkaus’ headquarters in Pohjois-Haaga, Helsinki. We work flexibly in a hybrid model. To foster collaboration and effective teamwork, we meet at the office three times a week.
