Controller - International Project Finance

Are you an experienced controller looking for a role where you can combine strong financial skills with meaningful work in an international setting? Then you may be the person we are looking for at Red Barnet.

You will become part of an organization with a strong mission: to protect children’s rights and create lasting improvements for children in vulnerable situations. The role is based in the International Project Finance team, within the Finance Department and the team currently consists of nine colleagues. We work in an international setting, and English is the primary language of communication within the team.

THE ROLE

You will bring your skills and expertise to help ensure that our international project portfolio is financially managed in the best possible way, engaging with a wide range of stakeholders across the International Department, Save the Children Country Offices, and the Finance Team.

Your primary responsibilities will be to

• Provide sound financial advice and analysis on project proposals, budgets, financial reports, and project close-out processes in close collaboration with project management and relevant colleagues

• Support project teams in monitoring and complying with donors’ financial requirements


• Advise on and support donor audits conducted in both Denmark and in Country Offices


• Work collaboratively across our organization in a multicultural and multi-stakeholder environment


• Improve project finance procedures, primarily through digitization and automation

YOUR PROFILE

Professional skills

• A degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field


• At least five years of experience in financial controlling, reporting, and budgeting; experience with donor-funded projects is an advantage


• A strong interest in donor finance compliance, particularly in relation to EU- or DANIDA-funded projects


• Experience with auditing of donor-funded projects


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel


• Professional proficiency in English (French is an asset)


• Relevant work experience from a similar organization is an advantage

• A proactive and structured approach, with the ability to prioritize effectively and adapt to changing circumstances


• Motivation to continuously develop and improve processes and to make effective use of systems and digital tools


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to turn financial data into actionable insights


• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships across diverse stakeholders

JOIN RED BARNET

You will be employed in accordance with the terms and conditions of the local Collective Agreement between Red Barnet and the relevant unions. The position is classified at AC level and includes 37 working hours per week, with flexitime. The application deadline is Friday 19th June 2026.
