A well-established business known for its global leadership in the insurance and reinsurance sector is looking for a Software Engineer COBOL (m/w/d). This role focuses on the development and enhancement of life insurance inventory systems to ensure high performance and scalability. You will be part of an international team responsible for transforming business requirements into robust technical solutions.
What you'll be doing
• Developing and maintaining mainframe backend systems for high-volume processing
• Designing scalable software architectures to ensure system stability and speed
• Identifying system vulnerabilities and implementing performance optimizations
• Modernizing the technological landscape through innovative software design
• Collaborating with business analysts and test managers on complex technical challenges
What we're looking for
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent vocational training in IT
• Professional experience in mainframe development using COBOL, JCL, and Batch
• Proficiency in working with relational databases, specifically DB2 and SQL
• Strong analytical skills for solving structured technical problems
• Professional communication skills in both German and English
