About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Application Engineer to join our team at Excelitas Deutschland GmbH. In this role, you will serve as a vital link between our customers, sales, and R&D departments, providing technical support and expertise to ensure the successful integration and application of our advanced sensor solutions. Your responsibilities will include assisting customers with technical inquiries, supporting the sales team in product selection and technical documentation, and collaborating closely with development teams to create customized product definitions and prototypes. You will conduct application measurements, tests, and comparative analyses, documenting findings to support product development and customer requirements. Additionally, you will contribute to creating training materials, delivering product training sessions internally and externally, and supporting the evaluation and resolution of customer complaints and field feedback. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a diploma or master's degree in a technical or scientific field, preferably physics. Strong communication skills in both English and German are essential, with additional language skills considered an advantage. You should have a solid understanding of radiation physics, optics, and basic electronics. Experience with thermal IR detectors, sensor systems, or similar high-tech products is highly desirable. Knowledge of system and application design, including signal processing, noise analysis, calibration, and environmental considerations, is important. Familiarity with software development or evaluation tools such as MATLAB, C/C++, or scripting languages is advantageous. The ability to listen attentively to customer needs and translate them into technical product requirements is crucial. Experience in project management and a willingness to travel nationally and internationally (approximately 25%) to customer sites, partners, and trade fairs are also required.
Responsibilities
- Providing technical support to customers by addressing inquiries and offering expert advice on product applications.
- Assisting the sales team in selecting appropriate products and preparing technical documentation to meet customer requirements for quotations and proposals.
- Collaborating with R&D and engineering teams to develop customer-specific product definitions, prototypes, and configurations.
- Performing application measurements, tests, and comparative analyses, documenting procedures and results for internal and customer review.
- Participating in the development of product roadmaps in partnership with product management and business leadership, contributing insights based on customer feedback and technical trends.
- Creating and updating training materials for product education, conducting internal training sessions for sales teams, and delivering external training to customers to enhance product understanding and application.
- Developing product descriptions, presentations, and technical documentation to support customer communication and marketing efforts.
- Supporting the technical evaluation of customer complaints and field feedback to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
