About The Role

We are currently seeking a passionate and skilled Software Engineer specializing in macOS development with Swift to join our engineering team in Karlsruhe. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of our STARFACE Mac Client, ensuring it remains robust, user-friendly, and aligned with the latest Apple guidelines. You will work closely with product management, UX designers, and other developers to implement new features, optimize existing code, and ensure compatibility with current macOS versions. Your expertise will directly impact the quality and performance of our desktop communication solutions, enabling our users to experience seamless integration and innovative functionalities. The position is full-time and permanent, offering a collaborative environment where your ideas and technical skills will be valued and nurtured.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant university degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification. You should have a genuine passion for programming and a high standard of software quality. Extensive experience in macOS development using Swift, Cocoa/AppKit, and Xcode is essential. Familiarity with Objective-C and React is advantageous. Knowledge of AI tools such as Cursor, Claude, or Jetbrains Junie is a plus. You should have a solid understanding of software architecture, clean code principles, and design patterns. Proficiency in version control systems like Git/Gitlab is required. Additional knowledge in areas such as VoIP/SIP, network communication, multithreading, and performance optimization will be beneficial. Excellent communication skills in both German and English are necessary to collaborate effectively within our international team.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance the STARFACE Mac Client using Swift, ensuring high performance and stability.
• Implement new features and functionalities in close coordination with product management and UX teams to meet user needs and business goals.
• Refactor and optimize existing codebases to improve efficiency, readability, and maintainability.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve bugs and stability issues to ensure a reliable user experience.
• Integrate the macOS client with backend and server components through well-designed interfaces.
• Contribute to shared code platforms for Swift, supporting iOS and macOS development efforts.
• Ensure compatibility with the latest macOS versions and adhere to Apple’s development guidelines and policies.
• Participate in architectural and design discussions, providing insights and technical expertise.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for ongoing development and support.
• Work collaboratively within agile teams, following Scrum or Kanban methodologies to deliver high-quality software iteratively.
