About The Role
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Swift Software Engineer specializing in macOS development to join our engineering team at our Karlsruhe location. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing, maintaining, and enhancing the STARFACE Mac Client, primarily using Swift. Your contributions will directly impact the functionality, stability, and user experience of our desktop communication platform. You will collaborate closely with product management, UX designers, and other developers to implement new features, optimize existing code, and ensure compatibility with the latest macOS versions and Apple guidelines. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a developer who enjoys working on innovative projects, shaping architecture and design decisions, and continuously improving software quality in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification. A strong passion for programming combined with a high standard of code quality is essential. You should have excellent expertise in macOS development, with proficiency in Swift, Cocoa / Cocoa Touch, AppKit, and familiarity with Xcode and other Apple development tools. Experience with Objective-C and React is advantageous. Knowledge of AI tools such as Cursor, Claude, or Jetbrains Junie is a plus. A solid understanding of software architecture, clean code principles, and design patterns is required. Experience with version control systems like Git or GitLab is necessary. Additional beneficial skills include knowledge in VoIP/SIP, network communication, multithreading, and performance optimization. Fluency in both German and English is expected to facilitate seamless communication within our international team.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance the STARFACE Mac Client using Swift, ensuring high performance and stability.
- Implement new features and functionalities in close collaboration with product management and UX teams to meet user needs and business goals.
- Refactor and optimize existing codebases to improve efficiency and maintainability.
- Analyze and troubleshoot bugs and issues, providing effective solutions to ensure a reliable user experience.
- Integrate the desktop application with backend and server components, ensuring seamless connectivity and data flow.
- Participate in the development of shared code platforms for Swift across iOS and macOS projects.
- Ensure compatibility with current macOS versions and adherence to Apple’s guidelines and policies.
- Contribute to architectural and design decisions, shaping the technical direction of the application.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for ongoing development and future reference.
- Work within agile development teams, employing methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban to deliver iterative improvements and features.
