About The Role
We are offering an exciting career opportunity for a Professional Platform & Linux Engineer (m/w/d) within our IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of our Linux and infrastructure platforms supporting one of the largest hygiene and medical product e-commerce shops in Germany. Your primary focus will be on system stability, performance optimization, monitoring, and maintaining a clean and efficient platform environment. You will work closely with development and DevOps teams to ensure our systems are scalable, reliable, and high-performing. As a technical pillar in operational activities, you will ensure that our platform remains stable and dependable, enabling the business to deliver excellent service to its customers.
Qualifications
- Strong enthusiasm for Linux and platform operations, with a passion for maintaining stable and high-performance production systems.
- Several years of experience in IT operations or platform management.
- Excellent Linux knowledge, particularly with Debian and Rocky distributions, supplemented by solid MySQL experience, preferably with Percona.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, backup, and virtualization systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of network infrastructure, including firewalls, routing, switching, and VPNs.
- Proven experience in a production incident environment, demonstrating problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Structured, responsible, and autonomous working style, with the ability to remain calm in operational situations.
- Practical, hands-on mentality combined with a collaborative approach working alongside development teams and other departments.
Responsibilities
- Operate, administer, and develop our Linux server and workstation environments, including distributions such as Mint, Debian, and Rocky.
- Manage configuration with tools like Puppet and oversee central platform services such as GitLab and DNS.
- Implement virtualization solutions using Proxmox VE, including backup management and disaster recovery planning.
- Maintain and enhance our monitoring systems, primarily Zabbix, ensuring reliable alerts and system health checks.
- Develop and execute backup strategies, regularly perform restore tests, and support incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Operate and optimize performance of critical databases, including Percona MySQL, for our shop, ERP, and marketplace systems.
- Administer network infrastructure components such as firewalls, switches, routers, and VPNs, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity.
- Manage and support essential business platforms, including time-tracking systems and other operational tools.
- Serve as a technical contact point for specific platform and infrastructure components, providing expert guidance and support.
- Ensure system stability, security, and proper documentation of all operational processes in close collaboration with the Tech Lead DevOps & Platform.
