About The Role

We are seeking a Professional Platform & Linux Engineer (m/w/d) to join our IT team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of our Linux-based infrastructure platform supporting one of Germany’s largest e-commerce stores in hygiene and medical products. Your primary focus will be on maintaining system stability, optimizing performance, implementing comprehensive monitoring solutions, and ensuring smooth platform operations. You will work closely with development and DevOps teams to guarantee that our systems are scalable, resilient, and efficient. As a technical anchor in daily operations, you will troubleshoot issues, lead incident management efforts, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our infrastructure. Your expertise will directly impact the seamless delivery of our online services, supporting the company's growth and customer satisfaction. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Linux system administration and platform operation, with several years of professional experience in IT operations or platform management. You should have excellent knowledge of Linux distributions such as Debian and Rocky Linux, along with hands-on experience with MySQL databases, preferably Percona. Familiarity with monitoring tools like Zabbix, virtualization platforms like Proxmox VE, and configuration management tools such as Puppet is essential. A solid understanding of network infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, routing, and switching, is required. Experience with backup strategies, disaster recovery testing, and incident management is also necessary. You should demonstrate a structured, responsible, and independent working style, with the ability to remain composed under operational pressure. A proactive, hands-on mentality and enthusiasm for collaborating with cross-functional teams are highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Operate, administer, and continuously improve our Linux server and workstation environments, including Mint, Debian, and Rocky Linux.
• Manage configuration and deployment processes using Puppet, ensuring consistency across platform services such as GitLab and DNS.
• Handle virtualization tasks with Proxmox VE, including backup management and disaster recovery planning.
• Maintain and enhance our monitoring systems, primarily Zabbix, to ensure high availability and quick issue detection.
• Implement and test backup and restore procedures regularly to safeguard data integrity and availability.
• Support incident, problem, and change management processes, providing timely resolution and documentation.
• Manage and optimize the performance of critical databases, including Percona MySQL, supporting e-commerce and ERP systems.
• Administer network infrastructure components such as firewalls, switches, routers, and VPNs, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity.
• Oversee technical operations of selected business platforms, including time-tracking systems and other essential tools.
• Act as a technical point of contact for specific platform and infrastructure components, providing expert support and guidance.
• Ensure system stability, security, and comprehensive documentation in close collaboration with the Tech Lead DevOps & Platform.
