About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic development team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining our high-availability, scalable production systems that power our online strategy games. You will lead key DevOps projects from conception through deployment, providing expert guidance on best practices and innovative tooling solutions. Your work will ensure the stability, performance, and security of our infrastructure, supporting the continuous delivery of our gaming products. Collaborating closely with game developers, community managers, and cross-functional teams within the Stillfront Group, you will help shape our technical landscape and improve our development workflows. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse set of technologies, influence the future of our gaming infrastructure, and contribute to the success of exciting upcoming releases.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in IT maintenance, systems integration, and network architecture
- Proficiency in Linux system administration, particularly Debian and Linux-based environments
- Strong background in high-load, high-availability systems and performance optimization
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud
- Expertise with infrastructure management tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, and ArgoCD
- Knowledge of modern build systems, tech stacks, and automation tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Ansible, Docker)
- Proficiency in Java or other high-level programming languages
- Experience in developing, shipping, and maintaining at least one commercial game or software product
- Excellent technical documentation and communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Passion for learning new technologies and continuous improvement
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute critical DevOps projects, from planning to deployment, aligning strategies with company objectives
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure production systems
- Optimize performance and stability of high-traffic systems at both OS and application levels
- Develop and refine automation workflows to streamline development and deployment processes
- Establish and improve tooling, including monitoring, alerting, and deployment pipelines
- Collaborate with game development, community, and product teams to ensure infrastructure supports project needs
- Manage cloud infrastructure and orchestration tools, ensuring efficient resource utilization
- Proactively identify and resolve system issues, minimizing downtime and enhancing user experience
- Share knowledge and best practices through training, documentation, and team collaboration
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually enhance our DevOps capabilities
