About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer specializing in Equipment, Fixture, and Tool Construction within the high-tech and aerospace sectors. In this permanent, full-time position based in Taufkirchen, you will play a critical role in designing the tools and equipment necessary for the manufacture of advanced aerospace components. Your primary responsibility will be developing high-precision, intelligent solutions such as winding tools for composites and CNC-ready fixtures, ensuring they meet the rigorous standards of aerospace manufacturing. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including development and manufacturing, to transform innovative ideas into practical, production-ready tools. Your designs will emphasize functionality, ergonomic considerations, cost-effectiveness, and ease of implementation on the shop floor. Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a solid foundation in mechanical engineering or related fields. A completed training as a design engineer, technical product designer, state-certified technician, or equivalent degree is required. Hands-on experience in designing fixtures, tooling, or specialized machinery is essential, with a clear understanding of industrial operations and manufacturing processes. Proficiency in creating technical drawings and using modern CAD tools is necessary; experience with SolidWorks is highly advantageous. Candidates should have a manufacturing mindset, familiar with CNC machining techniques such as milling and turning, and capable of designing for manufacturability. Curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a drive for innovation are important traits. Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory, both for collaboration within cross-functional teams and in workshop settings. Knowledge of fibre-reinforced plastics and their processing methods is a plus, providing additional expertise relevant to aerospace materials and manufacturing techniques.

Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Develop & design smart tools: Create production equipment such as pressing and winding tools specifically designed for fibre-reinforced plastics and metallic components, ensuring high precision and durability.
• Create technical drawings: Generate detailed, standard-compliant individual part and assembly drawings, incorporating clear geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to facilitate manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Choose materials with intent: Select appropriate materials based on performance requirements, manufacturability, and efficiency considerations, always aiming for lean and robust design solutions.
• Collaborate across disciplines: Work closely with development, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure your designs are feasible, functional, and aligned with project goals.
• Own your designs: Take responsibility for your design concepts, ensuring they are not only functional and ergonomic but also cost-effective and straightforward to implement on the shop floor.
