The Role

  • Develop a conceptual framework for a university bibliography, publication server, and research data repository using DSpace as the core technology.
  • Design and implement workflows for submissions, publication harvesting, and post-processing.
  • Design and implement role definitions and access control mechanisms.
  • Design and implement various views and statistics for publications.
  • Connect the system to various data providers and consumers via standard interfaces (e.g., OAI, SWORD, OpenAIRE, OpenAlex, CrossRef).
  • Develop operational and maintenance concepts, including data migration and production deployment.

What You'll Need

  • Completed university degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Library Informatics, Digital Humanities, or equivalent experience.
  • Several years of practical experience in computer science and in-depth IT knowledge.
  • Multiple years of experience in developing and deploying web applications.
  • Strong proficiency in Java or Python, with good knowledge of the other language.
  • Excellent skills in JavaScript and HTML.
  • Solid understanding of the Linux environment and experience with search technologies (e.g., Apache Solr, VUFind).
  • Basic knowledge of relational database systems, Linked Open Data, and Semantic Web (RDF, Triple Stores).
  • Strong commitment, teamwork skills, initiative, and good command of German and English (written and spoken).
