Job Overview
Plan A Technologies is looking for a skilled
Engine Engineer to lead the technical development and optimization of engine systems while managing workforce efficiency through UKG. This dual-impact role requires a candidate who can handle complex mechanical engineering tasks—such as performance testing and system diagnostics—while proficiently utilizing UKG for labor analytics, project-driven scheduling, and resource allocation. You will ensure that both the engines we build and the teams that build them operate at peak performance.
Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of experience in engine development and 2+ years of experience using UKGr to be considered for this role.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
- Design, test, and refine engine components and systems to meet performance and emissions standards.
- Conduct engine dynamometer testing and analyze data to optimize fuel efficiency and power output.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot mechanical failures and implement design improvements.
- Manage technical documentation, including CAD models (SolidWorks/NX) and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Utilize UKG Dimensions/Pro to manage engineering labor allocation across multiple R&D projects.
- Track "Time-to-Task" metrics within UKG to identify bottlenecks in the engine testing or assembly phases.
- Oversee complex shift scheduling for lab technicians and junior engineers to ensure 24/7 testing coverage.
- Generate labor analytics reports to help leadership understand resource utilization and project costs.
- Ensure all engineering activities logged in UKG remain compliant with union rules or labor laws.
- Maintain a safe working environment by aligning engineering workflows with company safety protocols.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in engine development, powertrain design, or mechanical testing.
- 2+ years of experience using UKG Pro or UKG Dimensions (formerly Kronos) for timekeeping, project tracking, or workforce management.
- Familiarity with labor regulations and safety standards (OSHA) within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Initiative and drive to do great things.
