7 Ways to Spend Your One Day Holiday

Posted by

A day of the holiday can be blissful in between a busy week. There are many ways that you can enjoy it. You can either choose to spend time relaxing at home or do something productive. Here are some of the most fulfilling and enjoyable ways to spend a holiday.

Slot a part of your weekend activities during the weekday

You don’t have to cramp all your fun weekend activities for the weekends. So plan something together with your family or friends with old or new activities. Most of all, you can get yourself some personnel me-time on the weekends.

Unplug from work-related matters

Unless your job explicitly requires you to be engaged. Check your work-related email or any messages in intervals instead of having to keep an eye throughout the day and try and reply in batches. You can try to arrange a specific time period for people to get a hold of you to avoid any interruptions throughout the day. Adding an auto-response to your e-mail will help to inform people that you will reply within a specific period that you arrange.

Cleaning and organising

If you are thinking of opening up more free time on your weekends, might as well do some housework during a weekday holiday. It is also a good time for you to gather any old clothes, coats, books and any tools that you no longer use and donate them. By any chance, your day is preoccupied with activities and yet you still want to do a little bit of house cleaning. Set an hour for yourself but you will need to work hard and fast to get it all done, that means no dilly-dallying.

Get Fit

What is a better way than to spend your public holiday to sweat it all? Spend your time at the park, the gym or even catch up with your friends in a sports game. If you are looking to stay at home the whole day while still looking to do some exercise, there are 5 stages of exercise that you can do:

  1. a warmup: easy walk on a treadmill or cycling on a stationary bike
  2. a cardiovascular (aerobic) workout: any exercise that gets your heart rate up
  3. resistance (strength-building) workout: squats, push-ups and abdominal crunches or you could work with dumbbells, a weight bar, bands or tubing.
  4. flexibility moves: stretching or yoga poses
  5. a cool down: similar to warm up exercise to bring the heart rate down to a resting state

Go for a day trip

There are plenty of attractions or places to visit all over Kuala Lumpur but seeing that time is a constraint and you want to pack in as much enjoyment and excitement in your one day trip, Kuala Selangor Nature Park might just fit your bill. An 8-hour day tour to explore the beauty of this park is sufficed before ending the evening by dining at some fresh local seafood at the fish village.

Food hunt

Looking to do some cafe hopping and checking out the hottest dining spots you have been held back for so long due to your busy schedule? Now might just be the perfect day to start your one day journey to explore new foodies in your city. Alternatively, you can choose to travel out of the city to the nearest town for any famous local delicacies.

Learn something, any new skill that would be essential to you

Arming yourself with new knowledge or capabilities can be your goal if you got nothing else to plan during the day. It could be a life or a work lesson. A new skill to advance your career or even a technology competency to develop your digital skills. You can choose to learn by reading, watching or interacting but the best way is to learn by doing through practice and repetition as you get better with each successive attempt.
