About The Role

We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our Platform team, specifically within the Data Infrastructure product area. This team is central to Spotify’s mission of building scalable, reliable, and innovative data systems that empower the entire organization. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data processing tools on Google Cloud Platform, supporting both batch and real-time data workflows. Your work will directly impact features like Discover Weekly and Wrapped, enhancing user experiences and enabling data-driven decisions across Spotify. You will collaborate with cross-functional squads, including product owners and engineers, to expand and improve our data processing platform, ensuring it adapts to evolving business needs. Additionally, you will support the development of systems that facilitate AI and intelligent agents to interact effectively with our data infrastructure. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of data processing and developer experience at Spotify, working at the forefront of cloud-based data engineering and emerging AI technologies.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields
• Proficiency in building and maintaining data pipelines using modern programming languages
• Strong understanding of systems design, data structures, and scalable architectures
• Experience working with high-volume, heterogeneous datasets in distributed cloud environments
• Hands-on experience with Python or JVM-based data processing frameworks such as Spark, Flink, or Dataflow
• Deep commitment to enhancing developer experience through tooling and best practices
• Knowledge of continuous delivery, testing, and writing maintainable, high-quality code
• Curiosity about emerging technologies, including AI and agent-based systems, and their applications in data workflows
  
  

Responsibilities

• Design and develop large-scale batch and real-time data processing tools on Google Cloud Platform
• Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver impactful features within the data ecosystem
• Expand and evolve Spotify’s data processing platform to meet growing and changing business requirements
• Drive standardization, tooling, and best practices to improve the experience for data practitioners
• Contribute to the evolution of a unified data platform, including efforts toward a data monorepo
• Support the development of systems enabling AI agents to effectively leverage data infrastructure
• Maintain high standards of code quality, testing, and documentation to ensure system reliability and scalability
