About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer specializing in International Card Technology to join our dynamic team in Toronto, Canada. This full-stack role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development of innovative credit solutions that enhance the customer experience across multiple platforms. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable, fault-tolerant systems that support our international credit card offerings. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions, influence architectural decisions, and mentor junior engineers. This position requires a hands-on approach with advanced expertise in multiple programming languages and cloud technologies, particularly AWS, to drive the continuous improvement of our engineering practices and product delivery.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of six years of extensive hands-on development experience, preferably with proficiency in at least two of the following programming languages: JavaScript, Java, Angular/TypeScript, Python, Node.js, React, or Go. A strong background in application and data architecture, design, and development is essential. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in building both front-end user interfaces and back-end services, with a proven track record of delivering full-stack solutions. Experience mentoring junior and intermediate developers, guiding technical stakeholders, and establishing best practices is highly valued. A bachelor’s, master’s, or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields is preferred. Additional qualifications include experience working within agile environments and familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, with AWS experience being highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle, from planning to deployment.
• Take ownership as a technical lead, designing and developing cross-platform, fault-tolerant application systems that support our international credit card services.
• Utilize a diverse set of programming languages including JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, Angular/TypeScript, Python, React, and Go, along with open-source RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
• Leverage AWS tools and services to build scalable, secure, and efficient cloud-based solutions.
• Identify gaps in existing frameworks and tools, contributing to continuous improvement of the developer experience and internal processes.
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices, including code review standards and technical documentation.
• Define technical standards, provide expert support, and troubleshoot complex issues to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Contribute to system architecture by applying high-level design principles and aligning with evolving technological trends.
• Mentor and guide junior and intermediate associates, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence.
