The
primary location of this position is based out of Palmerston, Ontario but requires occasional travel to Stratford location. The position will be reporting to the Manager of Injection Engineering. The focus and main responsibility of this position is for injection molding matters.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure the parts made in injection meet the quality, cost and delivery requirements. Troubleshoot issues and concerns and implement countermeasures.
- Investigate and address quality issues and concerns.
- Ensure that the parts are running with the specified cycle times.
- Support other departments in identifying and troubleshooting equipment or mold issues.
- Continuous improvement of existing processes.
- Kaizen processes to eliminate waste and reduce cost.
- Create and update documentation such as process plans, communicate with other departments for other types of documentation.
- For new models, for the parts assigned:
- Attend design reviews together with other departments, to identify and address potential issues at design stage.
- Use CAE (Autodesk Moldflow) to support tooling decisions (such as gating) and identify potential concerns such as deformation, weld line locations etc.
Please note that prior knowledge of the software we are using (Moldflow, Catia, JDE etc.) - is not required, you will train with the Injection Eng. department.
- Generate tooling kick off documentation and coordinate with Mold Engineering for tooling kick off.
- Support new part quotation activities, identify and propose opportunities for cost reduction.
- Support capacity planning activities by checking and proposing changes as needed to future production patterns.
- Prepare and update visual control charts used to monitor and report current status.
- Check the parts received from the first trials at the mold makers, and communicate with the mold makers and with Mold Engineering to address concerns;
- Conduct injection trials throughout the process maturation, following our standard trial documentation package and the principles of Scientific Injection Molding.
- Generate and maintain trial documentation.
- Generate condition standard sheets and startup work instructions.
- Travel as needed to suppliers of molds and equipment. This can involve occasional international travel, typically to the U.S., Japan or Korea.
- Provide training and support for production.
- TG Minto may amend the reporting structure and/or duties and responsibilities as business needs require.

Education Or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university with engineering specialization; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum three years in the automotive industry.
- Experience with Injection Molding processes is not necessary but is considered an asset.
