About The Role
Fitch Ratings is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our Ratings Technology team in Toronto. This pivotal role involves designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical full-stack applications that enable Fitch to deliver valuable insights to analysts, executives, and decision-makers worldwide. The ideal candidate will work on Ratings workflow and analytical applications utilizing modern technologies across the entire stack—from backend services in Java and Python to frontend interfaces in React. The role offers the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge cloud technologies, contribute to innovative technical solutions, and enhance your skills within a collaborative, dynamic environment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, analysts, and fellow engineers, to develop scalable, reliable, and efficient applications that support Fitch's strategic objectives and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of full-stack engineering experience in enterprise application development
- Proficiency in backend technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Maven, and Python (FastAPI, Flask)
- Strong understanding of frontend frameworks, especially ReactJS
- Experience working with relational databases like PostgreSQL and Oracle, as well as NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
- Hands-on knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, and container orchestration with Kubernetes
- Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including OOP, design patterns, SOLID principles, algorithms, and data structures
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Experience with data processing and API development
Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain full-stack applications ensuring robustness, scalability, and security
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines, deploying applications to Kubernetes clusters
- Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and data workflows for relational and NoSQL databases
- Collaborate with product managers, analysts, and other engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs
- Follow best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing, and documentation
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring high system availability and performance
- Stay current with emerging technologies, sharing knowledge and integrating innovative solutions into existing systems
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and technical standards
