At Cognichip, we are building the next-generation IDE to empower semiconductor design engineers with a 10x productivity boost through AI-native workflows and seamless integration with high-performance simulation engines.
We are seeking an experienced software engineer with expertise in desktop application development (especially Electron/VS Code extensions) to join our IDE team. Unlike traditional web roles, this position focuses on developing and extending a VS Code–based IDE, creating deep integrations with AI, collaborative editing features, and advanced visualizations tailored for semiconductor design workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of VS Code extensions and Electron-based IDE features for the Cognichip platform.
- Implement IDE capabilities such as AI-assisted coding tools, linting, syntax highlighting, and developer productivity features.
- Help integrate the IDE with backend APIs and services, ensuring smooth communication between the desktop environment and cloud services.
- Assist in building cross-platform desktop functionality supporting Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Work with senior engineers and designers to implement clean, intuitive UI/UX patterns within the IDE.
- Participate in debugging, testing, and performance improvements to ensure a responsive and reliable developer experience.
- Collaborate with the team through code reviews, design discussions, and agile development processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Internship or co-op experience in software development.
- Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript, with familiarity in modern frameworks such as React.
- Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, ES6+) and component-based UI development.
- Familiarity with Git and modern software development workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to VS Code extensions, Electron applications, or other developer tools.
- Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, or React projects through internships, coursework, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with REST APIs or microservice-based systems.
- Interest in developer tooling, programming languages, or IDE design.
