About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our International Card Tech team, focusing on backend development. This senior technical position (manager equivalent) offers an exciting opportunity to lead and contribute to the development of customer management capabilities for international Card users. The role involves working on innovative projects that transition from an account-centric to a customer-centric decision-making model, enhancing the overall customer experience. The ideal candidate will possess advanced hands-on development skills, technical design expertise, and architecture knowledge, with a passion for building scalable, fault-tolerant systems.

As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, share technical knowledge through workshops and mentorship, and influence the technical direction of our products. You will play a vital role in designing and implementing solutions that empower millions of international Card customers, helping them take control of their credit and financial health through innovative tools and features.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of hands-on development experience, preferably with expertise in Java, Python, Go, or other object-oriented programming languages. A strong background in application and data design, architecture, and development is essential. Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, is highly preferred, though familiarity with Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud is also valuable. Candidates should have demonstrated experience providing mentorship to junior and intermediate team members, guiding technical and business stakeholders effectively. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within a dynamic team throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of solutions.
• Act as a technical lead, owning the design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform, fault-tolerant application systems that meet business requirements.
• Identify opportunities to enhance the software engineering developer experience by evaluating existing frameworks and tools, and contribute to their improvement.
• Establish and promote engineering best practices, including code review standards, documentation, and adherence to coding guidelines.
• Provide technical expertise and problem-solving support, defining technical standards and ensuring engineering excellence across projects.
• Take ownership of architecture design, applying a deep understanding of technology trends and following High-Level Design (HLD) methodologies to align solutions with business goals.
• Mentor junior and intermediate associates, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical growth within the team.
