About The Role
We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our Data Foundations team at Stripe. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining critical data infrastructure that supports various internal functions, including Product, Data Science, and Go-To-Market teams. Your work will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and availability of data across the organization, enabling informed decision-making and strategic planning. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable data pipelines, models, and tools that underpin Stripe’s data-driven culture. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies such as Spark, Scala, and Airflow, and to contribute to the foundational data systems that support Stripe’s mission to increase the GDP of the internet.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in a Software Engineering role with a focus on data services or data-intensive applications
- Strong engineering background with an interest in data management and analytics
- Proven experience writing and debugging data pipelines using distributed frameworks such as Spark, Hadoop, or Pig
- Deep understanding of data quality issues and troubleshooting data inconsistencies
- Proficiency in backend development languages such as Scala, Java, or Go
- Extensive SQL experience and ability to architect shared datasets
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and requirement derivation
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and own robust data pipelines, models, and products that serve the needs of Product, Data Science, and GTM teams
- Manage service level agreements (SLAs) for data pipelines and full-stack web applications supporting critical stakeholders
- Build and enhance Stripe’s data infrastructure, including pipelines, tools, and platforms, utilizing technologies like Scala, Spark, and Airflow
- Leverage large language models (LLMs) and intelligent agents to produce high-quality data solutions for complex and ambiguous problems
- Refine and maintain data marts that enable accurate forecasting and performance measurement for the GTM organization
- Develop data services that monitor key product metrics and evaluate the impact of strategic initiatives
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand requirements, architect solutions, and ensure data quality and consistency across systems
