Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Software Engineer located in Calgary, AB.
- Design and implement JSON-based data models, schemas.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain RESTful (and/or GraphQL) APIs.
- Build backend services that process, validate, serialize, and deserialize JSON.
- Ensure data integrity, schema compliance, and backward compatibility.
- Optimize API performance, payload size, and response times.
- Integrate and manage third-party APIs and external data sources.
- Knowledge of authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT, API keys).
- Diagnose and resolve complex data and API issues across environments.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and architecture decisions.
- Write and maintain clear technical documentation.
- Follow and promote best practices for security, testing, and maintainability.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Familiarity with microservices architectures, cloud platforms and SQL databases.
- Strong expertise working with JSON, REST APIs, and HTTP protocols.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering.
