Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team and drive cost savings, waste elimination and support in capital projects.
An engineer who understands the full aspects of our operations, collaborates with the relevant teams to utilize their expertise and experience and applies various methodologies to implement overall improvements as directed by the business. This includes identifying manufacturing tasks/processes that can be automated. The person will explore ways to improve productivity in applicable areas and support the organization in maintaining cutting edge capabilities for our industry.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with stake holders to identify opportunities for improvement, areas of inefficiency and prioritize projects according to importance, as directed by the business.
- Lead the teams in implementing process improvements and best practices utilizing various known methodologies and the expertise and experience of the relevant teams.
- Conduct root cause analysis to confirm sources of problems and implement corrective actions.
- Collect relevant data and analyze to measure the effectiveness of improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with various manufacturing areas to identify benefits of automation where applicable
- Select and design automation process for selected tasks/processes where applicable.
- Develop and maintain applicable process documentation and SOPs.
- Identify suitable suppliers for any required equipment and systems and work with them to provide a detailed plan including information on pricing and other costs to support a ROI justification.
- Identifying bugs and other problems related to the selected projects and finding solutions.
- Identify and rectify quality problems in the product, caused by the selected automation or improvement process when implemented.
- Follows all established procedures and guidelines set by the organization.
Knowledge and Skills
- Requires a university degree in electrical, mechanical, robotics or related engineering field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of robotics, AI and machine learning including maintaining automation equipment
- Proficient in data analysis and statistical software
- Strong project management and analytical skills
- Knowledge of various methodologies like Kaizen, 5S, root cause analysis, 8D, statistical process controls, value stream mapping and lean manufacturing practices
- Advanced problem-solving skills and familiarity with time study concepts
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, problem solving, critical thinking and ability to lead cross functional teams.
- Familiarity with ERP systems
- Work under pressure and meet deadlines
Other Information
- The compensation range for this position is $65,000 - $95,000 annually.
- This position is for an existing vacancy.
