Posting #: 2026-32 Title: Program Leader (Part Time) Department: Recreation & Culture Duties: The incumbent in this class will assist management to achieve an efficient operation in the Recreation and Culture Department through reliable performance in recreation program functions, observing and complying with municipal policies and safety practices.

The incumbent will be responsible for performing program leadership, preparation of programs, and the scheduling, training, coaching and directing of skate patrollers and cashiers at City ice facilities. The incumbent will perform the duties of cashier and skate patroller to support operations, cover shifts and maintain service levels, as required. The incumbent will coordinate with Recreation administration, operations, and supervisory staff regarding facility bookings, programs and events to facilitate smooth operations; plan, promote and run programs and special events at City ice facilities, and assist with booking recreational facilities, as required, in accordance with established policies. In conjunction with Recreation managers, the incumbent will regularly review programs, service offerings and standards, and order supplies and equipment to support safe, efficient and high-quality service delivery. The incumbent will assist in handling correspondence, collecting data, and providing input for reports as related to recreation programs. The incumbent, in the absence of the supervisor, will assist staff in the operation and security of facilities and is expected to follow and enforce facility rules, safety guidelines and operating standards to maintain a safe and compliant environment ensuring the protection of the public, staff, the municipality and the facilities. The incumbent will perform other related tasks as assigned. Assignments and responsibilities are performed under general supervision in accordance with established procedures and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Manager of Recreation Facilities.

The incumbent will work those days as prescribed in published shift schedules and on occasion, work overtime as authorized. The incumbent will be required to travel in the performance of duties. The incumbent must wear safety equipment as appropriate to the performance of duties. The incumbent in this class will, upon hiring, have union dues deducted from source in accordance with the Collective Agreement. Education: -Must have a minimum of Grade 12 education plus courses in recreation management, leadership or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution OR an equivalent combination of training and experience; Skills: -Able to organize, coordinate, participate in and provide leadership in recreational programs and events;

• Able to prepare and maintain records and reports related to position;
• Must have knowledge of recreation practices and related equipment;
• Able to evaluate program offerings and make recommendations for change;
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other common software applications;
• Knowledge of computer programs used in recreation and leisure programs will be considered an asset;
• Knowledge of current office practices;
• Ability to skate would be an asset;
• Must be in possession of a valid B.C. Driver's Licence;
• Must have or be able to obtain a satisfactory Police Information Check;
• Able to exercise independence of judgement, initiative, and adapt to changing priorities;
• Must be knowledgeable in basic first aid techniques;
• Able to recognize, rectify and/or report upon actual or potential safety hazards;
• Able to exhibit courtesy, tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public;
• Able to understand verbal and written instructions in English, perform simple mathematical calculations, and complete forms, logs and reports;
• Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with department officials and other members of staff;
