StarTech.com Founder and CEO, Paul Seed’s dedication to making IT solutions easy to implement has not wavered, nor has his passion for the community. Pros: The hybrid model helps a lot for personal appointments, especially in the London, ON office. As a Product Manager, the workload is usually manageable, typically around 40-45 hours a week. You can often shift hours which is good for family life.
Cons: During big product launches or peak season in the IT hardware industry, it's easy to work overtime without extra pay. Sometimes there's pressure to respond to emails off-hours, especially dealing with international suppliers. The 'flexible hours' are offered, but not always practical with all the scheduled team meetings.
Advice to Management: Try to formalize 'no email after hours' policies. Encourage teams to truly use the hybrid model for flexibility, not just mandated days. The electronics industry is fast-paced, but employee well-being should still be a priority.
