Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant in the Department of Clinical Imaging Research Centre (CIRC) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. CIRC is a dedicated molecular imaging research centre. It is equipped with on-site capability for the preparation of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals in a modern GMP-certified facility. CIRC is positioned to support both academic and commercially led clinical research programs, with dedicated clinical imaging facilities area advanced modalities of PET-CT and PET-MRI. Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant will be responsible for the routine production of radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). The successful candidate will also assist in the method development and validation of new radiopharmaceuticals, including the preparation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other quality related documentation. Other tasks may be assigned as per business needs which may include routine QC analysis of the product as per established procedures.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will be able to:

• Perform routine preparation of radiopharmaceuticals as per protocols and current GMP regulations.
• Develop and optimize radiochemistry procedures and processes.
• Perform basic maintenance/troubleshooting of automated synthesis modules, hot cells and other lab equipment.
• Safe handling of radioactive materials and disposal of hazardous waste according to University regulations.
• Perform environmental monitoring as required by PIC/S GMP in the cleanrooms (environmental monitoring, airborne particle monitoring).
• Assist in writing Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Record sheets and other quality related documentation.
• Maintain consumable inventories and re-ordering of stock as necessary.
• Perform QC processes (HPLC, GC, TLC etc) according to procedures to ensure the product is safe for clinical use.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage routine microbial tests such as microbial plate incubation, sterility testing, bioburden testing, etc and liaising with third party contractors if required.
• Maintain cleanliness in the QC laboratory and the cyclotron facility.
• Other adhoc duties may also be assigned as required by department.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Personnel should be comfortable with:

• Exposure to radiation when handling radioactive samples.

• Handling of chemicals for QC testing (flammables, acids, and bases).

• Handling chemical and biohazard wastes

• Occasional lifting of heavy objects

• Flexible working hours with occasional over time

Qualifications

The applicant should:

1. Have a minimum of BSc degree in Chemistry (Synthetic Organic/Inorganic/Medical), Biochemistry, Pharmacy or a related science field.
2. Experience in production, manufacturing or handling of PET drug products preferred.
3. Good knowledge and experience of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) or GLP (Good Laboratory Practice).
4. Practical experience in general wet laboratory techniques, such as analytical balance operations, pipetting, pH measurement and reagents preparation.
5. Preferably hands-on experience with operating and maintaining analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, TLC.
6. Basic understanding of relevant safety regulations and protocols for handling/disposal of radioactive materials.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate professionally with colleagues and customers.
8. Proven ability to work independently with minimum supervision as well as a constructive team player.

Qualifications

1. Require critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
2. Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite.
3. Those with no experience but with relevant academic and skills will be considered for this position.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Research Associate/ Research Scientist to join the Antibody Engineering team. The job function will be to provide expertise in phage-display based approaches for antibody engineering and discovery. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and execute panning strategies using antibody phage display for antibody engineering and discovery
• Construction of antibody phage display libraries for the engineering of antibody attributes

Research Entomologist

An excellent opportunity is available for a Research Entomologist to join the Infectious Diseases and Immune Defence Division at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

About the Position
The Infectious Diseases and Immune Defence Division maintains several mosquito colonies in an Arthropod containment facility or Insectary. Insectary research activities include ongoing maintenance of an Anopheles stephensi mosquito colony for malaria.

This position will develop the regulatory and experimental expertise for rearing mosquitoes suitable for controlled human malaria infection clinical trials. The appointee will be involved in establishing the infrastructure and regulatory requirements for this capability.

This position is also responsible for overall management, budgetary planning, and service provision, including oversight of routine operations and the provision of training for Insectary users. In addition to undertaking tasks associated with the care, husbandry, and maintenance of mosquitoes, they may also be required to work with genetically manipulated mice in the facility, or other specialist responsibilities. This position is responsible for communicating with research group leaders and Head of Laboratory Operations on any compliance issues that may arise.

Selection Criteria
- A relevant post-graduate qualification in Science (PhD).
- Experience and demonstrated ability in a research field that includes working in an Insectary or equivalent.
- Research experience in animal work and mouse models.
- Knowledge of best practice approaches in handling insects and vector-borne parasites/viruses.

The Ho lab at Duke-NUS is building a platform to mine the human genome for novel determinants of the inflammatory response. The Mechanobiology Institute, National University of Singapore is a multi-disciplinary institute committed to developing new paradigms for biomedical research by focusing on the quantitative analysis of dynamic functional processes. Through quantitative biophysical approaches, we address major problems in biomedical sciences including pathogenesis (from bacterial to cancer), tissue regeneration and function.

We are seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Fellow (Research Fellow) to join Asst. Prof. Andrew Holle’s Confinement Mechanobiology group (established in January 2021).

The Confinement Mechanobiology group's broad objective is to use mechanobiology principles and recent observations on the nature of small, fluid-filled ‘cellular highways’ in the interstitial extracellular matrix (ECM) to identify, engineer, and leverage the role of confinement in cell biology. It is interested in leveraging new molecular biology tools, including RNA-Seq, CRISPR screens, ChIP-seq, and engineered tensions sensor probes to better understand the mechanical and genetic responses of the nucleus to self-induced cellular confinement, and then extend these findings to the cytoskeleton, focal adhesions, and extracellular matrix. The MBI and NUS provide state-of-the-art facilities dedicated to microfluidics, high-resolution imaging, and cell culture that will support the fellow in training, setup, and execution of the project, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with talented and motivated research staff, interdisciplinary PIs, and clinician scientists. Applicants with unique proposals relating to confinement mechanobiology within the scope of the lab, especially in the areas of microfluidics, cellular engineering, or biomaterials development are encouraged to apply.

• a strong background in mechanobiology, molecular biology techniques, microscopy, and image analysis
• Prior knowledge of microfluidics would be advantageous, though not a prerequisite
• Excellent communication skills and engage in collaborative research in a highly interdisciplinary environment.

Hosted research Working with the trust finance team to provide overall financial management of the research unit budget, and effective management of individual clinical trial budgets, including financial reporting as required. Alongside the Project Manager that leads the hosted portfolio, conduct feasibility assessments from a financial aspect on all research proposals in line with the unit research strategy prior to site selection, providing expert advice to the consultants / researchers. Act as an authorising signatory for the operational research budget within limits agreed. Will be the lead NCVR national coordinator for the unit and support others as required. Attend and represent the unit at relevant meetings. Build alliances and working partnerships with sponsors. Ensure the Data Validation Task (DVT) are built and maintained in a timely fashion. Ensure invoicing is done in a timely manner and all debt aged debt is chased to reduce risk of financial losses to unit.
