The Senior Knowledge Lawyer position reports into a partner in our Singapore Banking team and the Regional Head of Knowledge.
Singapore Banking team:
The role would involve supporting our Banking and Finance teams in Singapore as well as providing some support to the Asia region more broadly.
As one of the largest law firms in Singapore, we are recognized for our strengths in banking and finance, dispute resolution, international arbitration and corporate, M&A and securities across a range of industries, including aviation, shipping, energy, financial services, technology, infrastructure and commodities.
We provide international law advice, and through our Formal Law Alliance with Ascendant Legal, we give clients direct access to Singapore law advice, particularly in the areas of corporate and commercial litigation and arbitration; bankruptcy; and regulation and investigations.
In addition to our Singapore presence, we are active across Asia, advising leading global and regional corporations on transactions in Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Pakistan, Cambodia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The Role
We are recruiting a Senior Knowledge Lawyer to support the Banking and Finance teams in Singapore.
The role would involve:
- Drafting material for external or internal publications and identifying topics of interest and likely candidates for articles
- Carrying out analysis of latest developments in Banking and Finance and ensuring dissemination of knowledge, internally and externally
- Providing knowledge support to business development initiatives, including supporting client campaigns and initiatives
- Advising lawyers and discussing the legal issues which they face in their transactions and matters (including structuring advice), and providing assistance to lawyers in their research
- Maintaining existing precedents and drafting new precedents, especially APLMA and security documents
- Maintaining existing practice notes, drafting new practice notes and assisting in their drafting
- Planning, organising, preparing and delivering legal and industry focused training to trainees, fee-earners and clients
- Supporting strategy and business group meetings and taking an active role in supporting the activities of those groups
- Promoting the use of and keeping up to date systems for knowledge collection and dissemination (research notes, transactional documents / bibles, training material etc.)
- Supporting the delivery of the central Knowledge strategy, including relevant departmental and pillar strategies
- Managing and implementing the relevant team Knowledge Plan(s) and the Knowledge Investment Hours policy
Skills and Experience Required
- Qualified lawyer with significant legal experience in Banking and Finance (we are open to candidates from different areas of expertise within Banking and Finance)
- Qualification in England & Wales and/or Singapore preferred
- Experience in drafting in plain language and in English
- Experience in designing and delivering successful, interesting and innovative training programmes, targeted at the audience
- Ability to work with a variety of personalities across all levels of the organisation
- Experience in or interest in the collation, storage and delivery of knowledge
- Project management experience and demonstrated creativity in problem solving
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent legal research skills
