Our platform supports major enterprise clients across banking, property, energy, insurance, and local government.

We’re now at a critical stage of platform growth, preparing several products and integrations for enterprise production deployment.

We’re looking for a reliable, high-output Full Stack Engineer to jump into the engine room and help build the API connections and data pipelines that make it all happen.

The Role

This is not a role for someone who just wants to push pixels.

You’ll be the API and Data Pipeline specialist within a lean, fast-moving engineering team.

Day to day, you’ll be building the integrations that power VALAI’s scoring and recommendations engine, supporting third-party enterprise feeds, and hardening our platform for production-grade reliability and security.

You’ll pick up Jira tasks across the stack, contribute to time-bound sprint delivery, and be a reliable pair of hands when P1 incidents need fast triage.

What you’ll actually do

• Design & Build Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integration connectors for enterprise partners using Python and FastAPI.
• Data Pipelines Build robust data ingestion pipelines that reliably process property, energy, and external partner data at scale, including SFTP, API, CSV, and webhooks.
• Enterprise Hardening Support product readiness for deployment, including environment separation, security hardening, least-privilege access patterns, and secrets management.
• DevOps & Stability.Maintain CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions, automate deployment workflows, and use CloudWatch to proactively monitor system performance.
• Incident Response Triage and resolve Priority 1 incidents across infrastructure, application, and data layers to keep the platform stable.
• Data Quality Support data schema mapping, validation, transformation, and quality checks across pipeline stages.

What you bring

We’re looking for someone who takes initiative and moves work forward without needing to be closely managed.

You care about doing things properly, not just quickly, so we aren’t compounding technical debt.

Non-negotiables

• Strong hands-on Python experience, specifically using FastAPI for production APIs

• Deep experience designing and managing integrations, including REST APIs, SFTP, webhooks, and scheduled imports

• Proven ability to build and maintain data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, validation, and schema mapping

• Strong confidence with AWS core services: ECS/Fargate, API Gateway, RDS/Postgres, ALB, WAF, CloudWatch, S3, and IAM

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions or similar

• Strong capability in triaging and resolving production incidents

• Clear communication skills to document APIs, pipeline designs, and runbooks for the team

Highly regarded

• Front-end experience in React, TypeScript, or Next.js

• Experience with BigQuery, dbt, Airbyte, or similar data warehouse tooling

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform

• Experience with caching patterns, such as Redis

• Experience working on white-labelled or multi-tenant enterprise platforms

• Familiarity with ISO 27001 compliance or Vanta

Role: Full Stack Engineer – API & Data Pipelines

Engagement: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Location: Australia preferred, remote / hybrid flexibility
