Role Overview
The Developer is responsible for designing, building and maintaining enhancements delivered as part of the project. This role focuses on implementing user experience improvements within an existing React and Django platform while maintaining system security, performance and reliability.
Working within a multidisciplinary and multi-vendor delivery team, the Developer collaborates with UX designers, business analysts, testers and architects to deliver incremental improvements through structured sprint cycles. The role contributes to building high-quality, secure and maintainable code while supporting the ongoing evolution of the platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance frontend components using React in alignment with approved UX designs and digital design guidance.
- Implement backend enhancements within the Django framework to support new functionality and improvements to reporting and workflow processes.
- Ensure frontend changes maintain compatibility with backend permissions, authentication flows and audit logging requirements.
- Collaborate with UX designers to translate wireframes and prototypes into responsive, accessible user interfaces.
- Write modular, reusable and maintainable code that supports scalability and long-term platform evolution.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, code reviews and demonstration sessions as part of the Agile delivery process.
- Work closely with testers to support automated and manual testing, including Playwright regression testing.
- Contribute to defect resolution and remediation activities following testing cycles.
- Maintain code quality through peer review, version control practices and adherence to secure coding standards.
Skills And Experience
- Demonstrated experience developing modern web applications using frameworks such as React.
- Experience working with backend technologies such as Python and Django.
- Strong understanding of frontend architecture, component-based development and responsive design.
- Experience integrating frontend and backend services within complex application environments.
- Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery teams.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing practices and modern development tooling.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and responsive design principles.
- Experience working in government or secure environments is advantageous.
