Good Growth & Team Vibe in Pet Tech
Pros: I've really enjoyed my time at Fetch. The company culture is genuinely collaborative and inclusive. As a Software Engineer, I've had opportunities to work on interesting projects that directly impact users, and the learning curve has been rewarding. My colleagues are fantastic, always willing to help out, and there's a strong sense of team. The flexible hybrid work model is also a big plus for maintaining a good work-life balance.
Cons: While career growth is generally good, sometimes it feels like the path isn't always clearly defined, requiring a bit of self-advocacy to secure specific development opportunities. The pay is competitive, but not industry-leading, and benefits could be more robust. Some process improvements in project management would also streamline workflows.
Advice to Management: Consider formalizing career development paths and enhancing benefit packages to attract and retain top talent. More transparent communication about strategic decisions would also be appreciated.

Good mission, decent flexibility, but leadership comms need work
Pros: The best part about working here is definitely the company's mission to support pet owners. It's incredibly fulfilling to help people with their furry family members. The team I worked with was fantastic – supportive, collaborative, and genuinely cared about their work. Plus, the hybrid work model and flexible scheduling in the Sydney office made balancing personal life and professional duties quite achievable.
Cons: While the day-to-day was good, there were challenges. Communication from upper management felt sporadic and often lacked clarity regarding strategic direction. This sometimes led to confusion or a feeling of being out of the loop, especially when major changes were implemented without much forewarning. Improving the flow of information from leadership down would significantly boost morale.
Advice to Management: Please improve transparency and consistency in communication from leadership. Regular, clear updates on company direction and changes will help everyone feel more aligned and valued.

Good spot to learn, growth needs effort
Pros: As a Software Engineer at Fetch
Cons: Career growth paths for technical roles aren't always super transparent. You often have to actively seek out mentors or new challenges to move up, which can be tough in a mid-sized tech company. Progression can feel slow.
Advice to Management: Formalize career ladders more clearly for engineering roles and create clearer growth opportunities.
