The client s is looking for a Staff Android Developer to lead the development and maintenance of high-quality Android applications. This role combines hands-on mobile engineering, architecture, release management, performance optimization, mentoring, and best practices for Android app development and delivery.
Key Responsibilities :
- Architect, design, develop, and implement Android applications with high performance, stability, and scalability.
- Maintain strong code quality through code reviews, best practices, and robust testing processes.
- Oversee release trains and help ensure timely, predictable, and reliable mobile release cycles.
- Use feature flags to decouple deployment from feature release and enable progressive rollouts.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, QA, and cross-functional teams to deliver seamless mobile experiences.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across devices, focusing on reliability and user experience.
- Mentor junior and mid-level Android engineers and foster knowledge sharing within the team.
- Define and track app health metrics related to performance, stability, and reliability.
- Manage or improve CI/CD pipelines for Android app deployment, automated testing, and monitoring.
- Stay current with Android SDKs, libraries, and mobile development tools, introducing relevant improvements.
Required Experience and Skills :
- 7+ years of professional Android development experience.
- Deep knowledge of Kotlin, Java, and Android SDK.
- Strong understanding of Android architectures such as MVVM and Clean Architecture.
- Strong understanding of Android design patterns.
- Proficiency with Git and experience managing complex branching strategies in large-scale projects.
- Experience working in Agile teams and Agile development processes.
- Strong ability to optimize Android applications for performance, battery life, and memory management.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly explain complex technical issues.
- Proven technical leadership experience, including mentoring junior engineers.
