What you will do

Under direct supervision and using established standards, responsible for hardware designs and software programming for Security & Fire systems to meet the intent of the project requirements. Provides detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, Johnson Controls field installation team and subcontractors. Responds to basic warranty calls.

How you will do it

• Selects hardware designs from standard design library for flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of materials, network layouts and electrical schematics as required.

• Performs software programming using established standards as a basis of design.

• Coordinates the creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.

• Selects, orders, and tracks the delivery of materials for assigned projects.  Coordinates factory-mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule.

• Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assists in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.

• Gathers field changes from the project team and creates as-built drawings and software. Prepares proper documentation and/or manuals for system operation.

• Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.

• Assists in performing site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system.

• Completes paperwork including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.

• Adheres to safety standards.  High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.

• Coordinates with project owners to determine engineering & field execution task responsibilities.

What we look for    

Required

• Experience with installing and/or commissioning controls systems including system-level controllers. 

• Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems. 

• Demonstrated technical aptitude. 

• Demonstrated advanced computer skills required.

Preferred

• Bachelors in mechanical /electrical engineering, or Computer Science

• Software Algorithm design for commercial vehicles (Powertrain ECUs, Vehicle controllers or connected devices )
• Handling requirement related to security topics from automotive OEMs
• Create HLD (high level design) of SW algorithm; break down of requirement to different SW LLD (Low level design) modules
• Handle and discuss security requirements with OEMs on open points related to assigned design requests
• Coordinate requirements (LLD) between Bosch internal design teams
• Carry out needed System Tests, Delivery Tests, safety tests where needed
• Create a rough design proposal together with Bosch internal design teams and discuss with OEMs
• Support to calibration teams & project management where-ever necessary
• Liaison between Function development team and OEMs when required
• Support in FMEA activities

Additional informationSkills:Necessary:

• 10+ yearsexperience as Software Developer/Engineer in Automotive domain like Power Train, Body or Chassis system or similar
• Good knowledge of the automotive cyber security topics (Process, Methods & Tools)
• Working knowledge of Real Time SW, Operating System, micro-controllers, Target HW/Emulators/debuggers
• Base SW configuration know how Com stack and IO stack configurations
• Application SW and device driver development for powertrain domain control or any similar domain.
• Hands on experience and good knowledge on communication protocol and standards like CAN, J1939, ISO14229, CAN wakeup etc
• Good debugging. Skills and knowledge of debugging tools
• ASPICE know how preferred
• Knowledge on Configuration Management & Requirements management tools (Clear Case, Clear Quest, Request One or any similar)
• Knowledge FMEA and Exposure to vehicle testing and closed loop lab cars.

Value Add:

• Testing experience on Engine/vehicle test benches would be preferred
• AUTOSAR SW standards.
• Knowledge and experience in Matlab tools and automation tools.
