Job Description:
1. To edit/update SOP for microbial sampling/testing.
2. To edit/update WI for microbial related documents.
3. To perform microbiological sampling/testing on water, raw materials, finished product, stability and equipment qualification / process validation / environmental monitoring program.
4. To initiate and participate in lab investigation deviation / out of specification / incident / corrective & preventive action in relates to microbial testings.
5. To maintain a microbiological laboratory.
6. To develop and validate microbiological test method as and when necessary.
7. Any other project or assignment that will be advised / directed by superior.
Requirement:
1. Degree in Microbiological.
2. Minimum 2 or 3 years experience in microbiological testing, preferably in pharmaceutical industry.
3. Good knowledge and laboratory skills.

THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Assistant Microbiologist (Night Shift + Alternating Schedule: 6:30pm – 7:00am EST) will carry out the approved tests to comply with the department objectives in a laboratory that supports manufacturing. There are samples that will be collected from the manufacturing floor.
Primary responsibilities include:

This position's start rate is $23.00 per hour + a 5% shift differential. The hours are 6:30 pm to 7:00 am on a rotating schedule which provides every other weekend off.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors or Associates Degree in science related field
2+ years laboratory experience
Experience in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment

Job Description for Assistant Microbiologist
- Learn and perform basic calibration of laboratory equipment and maintain laboratory facility
- Conduct microbiological testing of air samples in accordance to validated test methods, procedures and standards
- Assist in preparation and maintenance of microbiological media and reference culture and conduct sterility checks
- Record and prepare test reports
- Assist to attend to client enquiries on testing methods and reports
- Maintain and upkeep quality system in the laboratory
- Assist in monitoring environmental and microbiological sampling
- Any other ad-hoc duties that may be assigned by Reporting Officer
Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Microbiology / Biotechnology / Food Science or any other related qualifications
- At least one year working experience is preferred. Freshers will also be considered as training will be provided
- Maintain confidentiality of all laboratory results and records
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work independently as well as in a team
- Knowledge of ISO17025 is an added advantage
