Business

Data Analysis & Adviser

• Analyze and visualize ESG data, including climate, biodiversity, blended finance and social data etc using advanced data tools to inform strategic decisions.
• Break down complex ESG data and reporting requirements into actionable insights and clear user stories for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Utilize tools like Power BI or Python for the analysis and visualization of ESG data, delivering actionable insights promptly.

• Work with the ESG product owner and business team to analyze requirements, breaking them down into software capabilities and detailed requirements for technical teams (UX developers, software engineers, data scientists, data architect) and drive market leading data solution and products including LLM enabled data use cases.
• Stay abreast of evolving regulatory and voluntary sustainability reporting requirements, ensuring data compliance and accuracy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Vision & Strategy

Set the strategic direction for the development and deployment of financial and reporting processes that ensure compliance and rigor with U.S. GAAP, Statutory Accounting Principles, and any other local accounting standards and the regulatory environment, thereby mitigating risk for the system.

Accounting & Controls

Direct and oversee the development, deployment, and implementation of all company accounting methods, procedures, and practices to safeguard the enterprise’s assets and properly reflect its financial results.

Plan and implement cash and investment policies to ensure the maximization of interest and investment gains. Oversight of the policies and procedures related to Investment Portfolio management.

Audit

Oversee and be accountable for planning and executing several annual audits for the enterprise, utilizing an external public accounting firm. Function as the enterprise subject matter expert and principal point of interpretation on all matters resulting from dealings with external accountants and auditors.

Financial Reporting

Be accountable for regulatory financial reporting.

Accounting Policy

Oversee and direct accounting questions and judgments for the enterprise; direct and control all accounting policies.

Overview:

Provides accounting and advisory services to the treasury business line to support implementation of derivatives trading strategies, derivatives hedging strategies, investment strategies, funding strategies, including asset securitizations and other balance sheet optimization strategies.  The position will require direct integration with Treasury Department personnel and report to the Director of Accounting Policy.  As a liaison between the Treasury business and Accounting functions, the Associate Director will be a key contact and go to person. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Research complex derivative and hedging, investment, and funding transactions, independently assess implications, determine appropriate accounting treatment, document conclusions, and manage the accounting implementation plan.
• Analyze and independently substantiate daily, weekly, and monthly derivative and hedging results, understand and provide explanation of results, including reasons for volatility, to Controller and CFO on a monthly basis.    
• Oversee production of daily, weekly, and monthly P&L and position reports
• Monitor new guidance issued by the FASB, SEC and Banking Regulators relating to issues that affect the Treasury function and assess impact to current processes.  
• Maintain a current level of expertise relating to professional standards and emerging industry and technical developments.

The Platform Director is the business partner for store operation leaders and oversees certain accounting functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the industry. Job Summary

The Accounting Manager is in-charge of full set accounts of accounting bookkeeping for all subsidiaries of the group apart from Vietnam accounting. This is an exciting new opportunity which allows full remote work.

Responsibilities
- Supervise Accounting and Finance team
- Oversee all financial operations of all entities of Bitcastle Group
- In charge of all monthly/quarterly/yearly accounting reports for all entities of Bitcastle group, including preparation of group financial consolidation reports, tax filing documents, cashflow management report, bank and crypto reconciliation report
- Review and make all journal entries including accruals/ adjustments ; may determine and prepare appropriate journal entries for more complex business transactions
- Handle transfer pricing project for group entities
- Profit and loss management, financial analysis, proposal and implementation of profit improvement
- Establishment of accounting and financial structure (identification of current status, identification of issues, and formulation and implementation of improvement plans), implement accounting system of group companies
- Handle financial risk management reports periodically, collaborate with product sides to identify risks to make improvements in terms of product and operations set-up
- Instruct data team to build automated report on BI team to capture revenue, expenses and balances in cryptocurrencies on daily basis
- Liaise with development teams to understand how products work on exchange in order to build daily PnL and balance reports for the management team, and prepare daily group PnL report and monthly forecasted group PnL

Requirements

- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Accounting
- Bachelor/Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting
- IFRS familiar
- Proficient in English and Japanese communication (speaking and writing)
- Experienced in multi-country – multi entities accounting is mandatory
- Perform under time constraints and meet deadlines

What You’ll be doing:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Accounting Policy and Advisory, the Director, Accounting Policy and Advisory will participate in the development, interpretation and implementation of CIBC’s accounting requirements.  As part of this process you will consult with and obtain input from partners in Finance (including Statutory Reporting, Treasury, the Controllership teams and the CFO group teams), Technology and other impacted business areas. As a Director, Accounting Policy & Advisory you will liaise with the Canadian Bankers Association, other banks and the External Auditors on related financial accounting and reporting issues.

How You’ll Succeed

• Accounting Requirements - Influence the development of appropriate external accounting requirements that are relevant to CIBC.  Establish, maintain and communicate internal accounting requirements and ensure that these requirements are developed in full compliance with IFRS. Provide accounting recommendations for complex / significant transactions. Perform evaluation of the effects of accounting developments on CIBC's financial accounting and reporting

• Relationship Management - Liaise with the Canadian Bankers Association and directly with other banks on financial accounting, reporting and related issues and developments in Canada, the US and internationally. In addition, liaise with the External Auditors on financial accounting and reporting policy issues

• Projects - Participate in project work as required and appropriate to ensure that financial accounting and reporting related changes are implemented in a controlled and timely manner

• Conceptual and organizational skills – being able to see the “big picture” in a complex environment.

• Problem solving and analytical skills – ability to elicit necessary information to provide value-added advisory services to internal business partners and ability to work independently.
