The CEPC is responsible for community capacity development for suicide prevention by serving in a leadership role in communicating with, organizing and managing community partner interactions and in helping to build coalitions to implement suicide prevention programs aimed at reducing Veteran suicide at the community, state, and Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) levels. The CEPC serves as a seasoned content matter expert for suicide prevention and public health and facilitates integration of suicide prevention education throughout the community by developing and organizing community partners and coalitions aimed at reducing Veteran suicide at the local, state and VISN level. The CEPC is a subject matter expert (SME) in analysis of current community capacity and organization with a responsibility to help manage the intersection of community and facility resources effectively to support the goal of community based interventions for suicide prevention. The CEPC promotes a public health approach to
suicide prevention.
Oversees outreach to educate community partners, the media, VA and other government stakeholders to enhance the development of suicide prevention coalitions. Identifies the specific needs and interests of each group, determines the strategy for providing information, and tailors
the communications to be effective to each group. Monitors feedback and adjusts the communication and education plans accordingly. Develops and delivers education and outreach services that encompasses underserved veteran populations and expands SP coalition building in communities in the facility's geographical catchment area and may include regional/state events.
The position will facilitate planning, direction, and timely execution of policy, training, education, research and evaluation, and/or data and surveillance projects/programs pertaining to the prevention of Veteran Suicide. Oversees the revision of long-range plans, goals and objectives for the suicide prevention communication directed towards the support of coalition building.
The CEPC will work with the Public Affairs Officer, VHA Communications and external VA partners to plan, develop and disseminate suicide prevention outreach communications to enhance the work of community coalitions. This will include developing and providing suicide prevention related media/marketing, including interviews (print or broadcast), social media postings, and communication campaigns (Paid/PSAs). The CEPC will disseminates program evaluation and surveillance data related to suicide prevention with community partners to internal and external stakeholders in conjunction with the clinical arm of SP 2.0.

Provides health coaching for Veterans in order to reduce or eliminate high-risk behaviors while increasing healthy ones.
Conducts interventions for Veterans using one-on-one, couple, or group modalities in outpatient and inpatient settings.
Conducts Whole Health Facilitated Groups; participate in MOVE, smoking cessation, diabetes management, hypertension clinics, mental health, and other inpatient and outpatient groups as appropriate.
Provides follow-up care through telephone clinics or secure messaging between face-to-face appointments.
Actively guides Veterans in the exploration of core elements of personal health planning through individual and group based programs.
Encourages and assists Veterans with the adoption of habits that are conducive to a higher quality of life and in alignment with the Veteran's goals. Identify habits and behaviors that are harmful to quality of life and related to chronic illness.

The expectation is that the Employee Whole Health Coordinator will address overall well-being issues for employees throughout the medical center and outlying areas including but not limited to nutrition, mental, emotional, social, physical, and environmental well-being based on Whole Health (WH) principles and the WH system of care.
