The starting salary for this role is £24,977 per annum for working 36 hours per week. As you progress through your professional qualification your salary will increase up to £33,321 per annum.
We are excited to be hiring a new PDP Asset Survey Technician to join our fantastic Asset Survey Team, based in Guildford. This is a Professional Development Programme position in Environment, Transport and Infrastructure (ETI). The position provides a formal career development opportunity supported by a comprehensive training and development offer which will involve undertaking a professional qualification in Civil Engineering.
Although the role involves other condition surveys, the emphasis of the position is core sampling.
This is an exciting opportunity to start a career path as an Asset Survey Technician within the highways sector where personal and professional development is provided with no previous experience required.
The role involves carrying condition and performance surveys on Surreys highway network so will be predominately site-based. We highly recommend coming in for a chat to get a better understanding of the role.

About the Team
The Asset Survey Team sits within the Asset Planning Team and is responsible for carrying out a range of condition and performance surveys for compliance, as well as investigative purposes which provides appropriate data to assist with the practical application and management of asset planning. This enables informed decision making, prioritisation and sufficient project and programme progression within the Network and Asset Management Group.
As a team we work closely with internal and external clients, providing a range of specialist and technical services related to highway surveys, advising and assisting colleagues, members, customers and stakeholders to maximise service quality and efficiency.
About the Role
As an Asset Survey Technician, you will occupy an essential role coring, surveying, and inspecting various asset types to deliver quality condition data and inventory information to improve the decision making across the directorate.
This role will predominantly involve working outside, and at times will be required to work unsocial hours when needed and due to the necessity for site visits, it is essential that a full UK manual driving licence is held due to the nature of the job. If you are unable to drive for any reason, we welcome a discussion in how you intend to meet the requirement for travel.

• Assist/carry out VDR/SVDR annual performance tests and statutory safety radio survey on board ships.
• Attend to enquiries and correspond with customers on statutory survey matters.
• Monitor/Update international convention regulations and International Maritime Organization (IMO) requirements.
• Maintain/update survey checklists issued by classification bodies.
• Maintain validity of approval certificates issued by classification bodies.
• Identify nature of survey and monitor daily statutory survey activities.
• Prepare survey report and submit to relevant classification authority.
• Record any non-conformities of equipment in the survey report.
• Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the superior.
• Conduct statutory survey in accordance with international safety of life at sea (SOLAS) convention, Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODU) code, High-Speed Craft (HSC) code and the Merchant Shipping Acts.
• To obtain General Operators Certificate (GOC)
• Technical knowledge in GMDSS & VDR/SVDR system is advantageous
• Minimum two years of relevant experience

Duties and Responsibilities:
· To conduct daily checks on essential building services and record meter readings for utilities services;
· To carry out general preventive maintenance on Building Systems, including troubleshooting, defects rectifications and perform repair works as assigned;
