This position will support the Global Facilities function and provide facility planning and design management to facilitate building renovation execution at multiple project scales and delivery methods in an energetic and fast-paced environment.
The role is responsible for building renovation planning, estimation, scheduling, and resourcing. This person will work closely with consultants and internal stakeholders to create a functional area program, and layout, and coordinate infrastructure support needs.
The ideal candidate for this role has proven ability to identify and resolve issues resourcefully and independently and will work to understand key business drivers, applying this knowledge to decision making.

Responsibilities:
- Lead feasibility analysis studies, and report project requirements and space planning initiatives related to lab and office renovations and/or new construction
- Partner closely with local site leaders to align the project strategy to support business development plans and initiatives
- Forecast local space needs based on departmental growth and change
- Develop options for facility renovations and create reports and presentations on proposals
- Participate in the creation of engineering specifications and designs
- Accountable for preliminary budget and schedule creation, resource forecasting
- Schedule project review meetings, review materials and methods, coordinate with project architects, engineers, and construction personnel
- Ensure work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications
- Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately once complete
- Daily operational support and other duties as needed or assigned
- Able to work independently to manage time and perform within required deadlines, managing business priorities
- Comfort with ambiguity and effectiveness during periods of uncertainty and change
- Able to clearly communicate cross-functionally about complex equipment system concepts with team members, other stakeholders, and third parties
- Build effective working relationships with peers and customers to influence the decision-making process toward business objectives and stakeholder requirement
- Plan for contingencies to overcome obstacles, setbacks, and uncertainties to ensure the delivery of results
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or other related discipline or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years project experience working in the construction industry preferred
- Experience with laboratory facilities preferred
- Must be able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications and the preparation of diagrams, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules
- Must understand principles and practices of construction and contract administration, architectural and engineering disciplines
- Must work well independently in a highly collaborative environment with minimal direction
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project)
- Experience with Revit, CAD drafting, and Bluebeam advantageous
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
The estimated base salary range for the Design and Preconstruction Specialist role based in the United States of America is: $88,200 - $132,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
